Russian military forces have intensified their bombardment of the Ukrainian capital, focusing attacks on key infrastructure crossings over the past four days, according to reports from BBC News.

The Pivnichnyi Bridge, also referred to as the Northern Bridge, was struck for a second consecutive day amid the escalating campaign. That strike follows multiple hits earlier in the week directed at the Pivdennyi Bridge, or Southern Bridge, demonstrating a concerted effort by Moscow to disrupt vital river crossings in Kyiv.

The latest wave of strikes coincided with an unannounced visit to Kyiv on Sunday by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The strikes reportedly involved drone activity targeting bridge infrastructure across the city while international diplomatic engagements were underway.

BBC correspondent Dan Johnson reported from near the site of the Northern Bridge strike, noting the sustained tempo of Russian assaults on critical transit routes in the Ukrainian capital.

The renewed bombardment of central transportation links marks a continuing escalation in aerial strikes across Ukraine, placing added strain on local infrastructure as foreign leaders maintain high-level visits to demonstrate ongoing Western support.
