Newly appointed White House press secretary Katie Zacharia conducted her first press briefing on Tuesday, presiding over a short session marked by praise for the administration and a verbal slip-up.

The briefing lasted approximately 14 minutes, during which Zacharia answered inquiries from only three news organizations before concluding the appearance.

In her prepared opening statements, Zacharia defended President Donald Trump's record, asserting that his administration's energy agenda had successfully revived American "energy dominance." She also highlighted the president's trade policies, arguing that tariffs implemented by Trump had successfully halted Chinese manufacturing of chemicals used to produce fentanyl.

During the questioning period, a reporter asked Zacharia how she intended to manage the heavy demands of the press secretary position alongside her family commitments. Zacharia replied that missing evening time with her children was not acceptable to her. While explaining her personal balance, she accidentally referred to her spouse as "my president" before immediately catching the error, saying, "excuse me, my husband."

Zacharia's first turn at the briefing room podium follows Trump's earlier public comments regarding her appointment, in which he described her as a devoted supporter when selecting her for the administration's primary spokesperson role.
