Elon Musk has emerged as the largest known financial contributor to the current US midterm election cycle, directing over $276 million toward efforts to maintain Republican control of Congress.

The funding details, initially revealed by The New York Times before mandatory federal disclosure deadlines, were validated by Andrew Romeo, who serves as a representative for Musk's political action committee.

A major portion of the capital was channeled to the Senate Leadership Fund, which functions as the primary super PAC backing Republican candidates running for the Senate. That group received $158 million from Musk, marking one of the highest political contributions recorded in United States history.

In addition, Musk directed $76 million to America PAC, his affiliated political organization. The group has re-established an extensive ground mobilization campaign aimed at increasing voter turnout, echoing the canvassing and door-to-door field strategy it previously deployed in 2024 to support US President Donald Trump.

The massive financial infusion, disbursed starting in July, establishes Musk as an unprecedented individual force in American campaign finance as Republicans fight to protect their legislative majorities.
