European nations plan to participate in diplomatic discussions regarding the conflict in Ukraine scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi, according to French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot.
Speaking during an interview with French radio network RTL, Barrot confirmed that European representatives will have a strong presence at the upcoming meetings in the United Arab Emirates. He stated that France would definitely be involved in the talks, though he noted that the specific individuals who will represent the French government have not yet been finalized.
The diplomatic gathering comes after announcements regarding American mediation efforts. United States envoy Steve Witkoff previously disclosed that Washington intended to assemble negotiating teams from both Russia and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi on November 10 and 11.
Those sessions are set to focus on pathways toward halting Moscow's military campaign, establishing post-war security arrangements, and implementing broader de-escalation measures.
Barrot emphasized that France considers its involvement essential as international partners attempt to navigate a framework for peace. European involvement reflects broader efforts by Western allies to coordinate closely during direct or indirect negotiations involving Kyiv and Moscow.
Further specifics concerning which other European governments will send delegates to the United Arab Emirates have not yet been made public. Representatives from the United States, Russia, and Ukraine are expected to address critical issues concerning sovereignty, regional stability, and long-term security guarantees during the two-day summit.
