The United States has circulated security alerts to its citizens residing in or traveling through several Middle Eastern nations, citing heightened regional risks. Diplomatic posts, including the American embassy in Israel, issued the advisories on Saturday amid rising tensions across the region.
According to a report by Yedioth Ahronoth, the alerts were prompted by intensified threats from Houthi forces based in Yemen alongside intelligence pointing to Iranian efforts aimed at targeting senior American officials in the area. Embassies in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Bahrain, among others, shared similar guidance with their nationals.
US personnel and travelers have been urged to maintain a high level of vigilance. The advisories cautioned that sudden escalations in hostilities could occur quickly, potentially leading to airspace shutdowns and widespread flight disruptions throughout the region.
The alerts come as Washington reassesses its military posture toward Tehran. Reports from American news outlets suggest that the administration of US President Donald Trump is examining possibilities for restarting military actions directed at Iran.
Axios reported that Trump convened a meeting on Thursday with his primary national security aides to address matters concerning Tehran. During the discussions, the president reiterated that Iran would not be permitted to obtain a nuclear weapon and indicated that upcoming policy decisions regarding Tehran are approaching.
Citing an American official, Axios also noted that US Central Command is completing plans for the prospective relaunch of broad combat operations involving Iran if ordered by leadership.
