South Korea's presidential office scheduled an urgent session on Wednesday to address a series of cyber intrusions targeting domestic financial institutions that exposed sensitive customer data.
The discussions are led by Song Ki-ho, who serves as vice chief within the National Security Office at Cheong Wa Dae. Representatives from the Financial Services Commission are also taking part in the gathering, according to statements from the executive office.
The emergency summit comes in the wake of breach notifications submitted by several prominent financial and investment organizations. On Wednesday, disclosures regarding unauthorized access and compromised client records were confirmed by asset management company Mirae Asset Global Investments, digital asset exchange platform Bithumb, and brokerage firm Daishin Securities.

Government and regulatory authorities are using the meeting to evaluate the full scope of the security failures across the targeted companies. Officials are also coordinating unified strategies designed to stop the spread of future digital intrusions and safeguard institutional financial networks.
The breach notices arrive amid broader concerns over the vulnerability of customer databases across the country's expanding financial technology and investment sectors. The authorities have not yet released specific figures detailing how many user accounts were affected or the exact methods utilized by the perpetrators during the separate cybersecurity incidents.
