British prosecutors have charged two men under the National Security Act in connection with a security incident at an air base in southwest England, alleging that one of the suspects attempted to aid Iranian intelligence services.

The legal action follows an investigation into events that took place in late September outside RAF Fairford. According to reports, five British citizens were initially detained near the perimeter of the facility during the early hours of September 27.

RAF Fairford has played a strategic role as an operating location for American military aircraft, specifically bombers executing missions against targets in Iran. However, the United States pulled those aircraft from the base because of security concerns shortly after the group of men was arrested outside the installation.

Specific details regarding what occurred during the breach or near the installation have not been fully disclosed by authorities. Nonetheless, the confrontation drew widespread global interest amid elevated fears over Western defense vulnerabilities linked to the broader conflict between Washington and Tehran.

Prosecutors moved forward with formal charges against two of the individuals on Tuesday, focusing on allegations tied to foreign intelligence cooperation. The charges represent a significant use of Britain's updated security legislation aimed at countering hostile state activities and foreign espionage on domestic soil.
