Zelensky: Russia’s Ceasefire Talks a ‘Positive Sign’
🤔 **Could Peace Be on the Horizon?**
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called Russia’s consideration of ending the war a “positive sign.” This comes after Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed direct talks, set to take place in Istanbul this Thursday. Zelensky emphasized the need for a “complete, lasting, and credible” ceasefire as the first step toward peace.
Western leaders, including UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and France’s Emmanuel Macron, have echoed calls for an immediate 30-day ceasefire. They warned of “new and massive” sanctions on Russia if the ceasefire demand is not met. Meanwhile, Russia insists on negotiations before agreeing to a truce.
The big question remains: Will these talks lead to a genuine path to peace, or are they another diplomatic stalemate?
